The Saint Lucian Government has embarked on a participatory process to obtain input into the development of the National Development Plan (NDP) and the Medium-Term Development Strategy (MTDS). These two important documents provide frameworks for national development planning, to guide Saint Lucia’s advancement. The first, NDP, provides a long-term framework which would establish the vision for the country in fifteen years, or where we would wish Saint Lucia to be by the end of that period. The second document, the MTDS, would detail what concrete actions Saint Lucia should take in the next five years to head towards this vision. Ultimately, the consultations would ensure that a whole of Saint Lucia approach is adopted, where initiatives would be geared towards the advancement of the country as a whole, moving away from an isolated perspective with a focus on silos. Input from the diaspora is critical, as it would reveal positive changes that Saint Lucia should aspire towards, some suggestions on how to get there, and how to overcome perceived challenges.
